Jack of the Green is Crazy Great

By:

The Zu Crew loves Jack of the Green, and not just because it’s conveniently located in our backyard (Lake Leelanau, MI). The unique, extraordinary garden boutique is off the beaten path, making it an intimate experience and wonderful destination.

Jack of the Green provides healthy, beautiful plants for both home and garden.

Whether it’s organic edibles or unexpected annuals and perennials, the staff at Jack of the Green makes sure all plant species are to the highest quality.

And how cool is this? Jack of the Green works closely with local growers, artists (eh hem…baabaazuzu for one) and craftsmen to create a collection of well-made goods.

Tracy Brookfield [below photo], Jack of the Green owner, is a garden designer and plant enthusiast. He originates from England, but he’s an expert with a variety of plant species, including those native to northern Michigan.

Touring the gardens is joy in itself–Jack of the Green creates extensive display gardens, consisting of native plants and rare perennials. Aside from the natural beauty of the plants, we guarantee you’ll enjoy discovering fun finds in the store. For instance, check out these humorous, yet oh so functional planters called crack-a-heads; you simply tap a spoon on these funny faced porcelain eggs, water the dirt and pre-planted seeds and watch them grow:

Due to harsh winters, Jack of the Green is seasonal. The artisan gardens and gardening boutique are open May – October. Hours are Monday – Saturday: 10am – 5pm, and Sunday: 11am – 3pm.

Before venturing to Jack of the Green, check out their Facebook–it’s filled with fantastic photos and updates. Jack of the Green is charming, has loads of character, and even some humor. Check out this video to get a taste of some of the wit you just may get to experience during your visit.

Although I don’t shop there as much as I’d like, I do own a few things in these photos! My crack-a-head (a gift), and that awesome, black, tall, glowing hurricane candle holder thingy. I love it, and each time I enter JOTG, I am dazzled by all the awesome stuff you have! I’m coming in this summer!
